My laptop has spyware. Will buying an antivirus stop it?

I turned on the laptop and a warning came up saying I was detected with spyware and to call a number. I DIDN'T want to do that. I am not using any protection except for this free bit defender  How can I get rid of it? Will just an antivirus do?

malware attack laptop

Ya, your PC is infected with Malware and spyware, if you can afford buy the full version of internet security software. Any software company will provide the free version of software's but they have limited features. you need to know that infected with Malware might be infected with virus also.

Once try installing the avast free edition, I assure you it worked for me. It cleaned my system. But my opinion is select the good antivirus. Once try with avast free edition if you are impressed go and buy the full version of Avast Internet Security.

Buy the Norton Internet Security or Norton 360 because these products by the Symantec are awesome, I assisted my so many customers with Symantec. they also felt very good which worth the money. Till now I hear the good words from them regarding these Symantec software's.

Better install any security kind of software if you are connected or not connected to internet.

I have a virus protection software called AVAST! antivirus...I never got a virus since january 17 2013

I have a thing called PS VITA...it said that I need a thing called Content-Manager-Assistant...
I wanna know if you get a virus and I have avast! Anti virus software

don't wanna damage my computer so please be honest and tell me (I have windows7)

I ALSO wanna know why does it say

DO YOU WANT TO ALLOW THE FOLLOWING PROGRAM TO MAKE CHANGES ON THIS COMPUTER?

This part got me scared so I wanna know why does it say this an if I will catch a virus.

virus infected detected

I think you are using the Avast free edition of antivirus, you need to know one thing that this type of any free edition software's has the limited features in terms of security.

Do one thing that uninstall the avast antivirus and some sort of malware programmes are installed on your computer. First go to control panel and add/remove programmes uninstall the unnecessary software's and other things that you dont need.

After uninstall the Avast free antivirus, download the Norton internet security and ccleaner, Trojan remover. Install the trojan remover and reset the windows policies, internet explorer policies...etc and scan the whole computer and follow the on screen instruction. Troaj remover will clean your system, if any trojans were found on your computer.

After install the Norton Internet Security and scan the whole computer, before scanning update the virus definition. They will provide you the 30 days trial version of softwares. If you are impressed during the trial period of Norton Internet Security buy the full version. I assure you it will perform good.

How do I Factory Restore my Computer?

I want to Factory Restore my Windows XP PC. I have no restoration disc. I cant do it on the boot menu either. So is there a program to download that will do it for me? No bad answers please

restore system to factory settings

If you are using a Brand PC like hp, lenovo, compaq they will provide the restoration discs. If you don't have or not received at the time of buying you need to know how this process can be done. Go to the manufacturers website and choose your pc model and find the support tab or FAQ's there you will find all the details about the you PC.

So many users post the details and problems about the model of your computer. After posting a question any expert or the management people or technicians give the solutions in the form of reply. If your model is outdated. If you don't find ant restoration discs you can get a windows OS CD and do format and the data on your hard disk will be erased. It works as a new system.

Might be your system is infected with viruses, that's why you are looking for restoration disc. Solution is not only acquiring the restoration disc. You can format your os drive only, but do at your own risk. If you know about the formatting and installation you can perform all these steps.

Install a Good Internet security sort of software's to protect your system from the virus, trojans....etc.

Windows error recovery message & programs take too long to open?

Two days ago my laptop unexpectedly shut off. Ever since then i get the windows error recovery message whenever i start up windows. I choose to start windows normally instead of going into safe mode. Once my desktop loads, i try clicking on programs that keep on failing to load. After 10 or more minutes i finally get them open. The screen also blacks out and comes back. The network icon sometimes shows that the computer is connected to the ethernet code when its not and it also shows that the internet is not connected or on when it is. The programs also become unresponsive alot , causing me to restart. What should I do ? I've been experiencing this problem for 2 days.

windows recovery messages

Your system might infected with malware or trojans or viruses. Once Install a good antivirus programme and scan the whole computer. While scanning it shows all the threats which were detected whlie scanning. Some antivirus programmes might delete the compresses files (rar,zip...etc) if the they found virus in the the compressed file, some deletes the total compressed file. Make sure to check with them, if you have any important data you may lose your data.

One more reason behind this is OS file system may be corrupted. If you have OS cd follow the steps to repair the windows. If you dont how to repair, contact the system administrator. Better install a good Internet Security sort of softwares. So many programmes available on the Internet and free versions also available. I found Avast free edition is good one in all these viruses which they provide for free.

If you found that Avast or any security programme is good one, buy the full version of software.

Viruses infiltrated my laptop. How to fix this?!?

Couple of days ago, I inserted a flash drive on my laptop which turned out to contain viruses. By viruses I mean it has this "files" named Porn, Secret, Passwords, and Sexy. They have the same icons.

I'm assuming they're viruses because every time I insert a removable drive on my laptop they ALL contain the same "files". So I guess my laptop became a virus spreader? Lol.
Along with these files is another one named "autorun.inf" that can't be deleted. The files and folders on every removable drive I install become applications or shortcuts which has the same icon as the viruses.

My antivirus seems to not help at all. It's ESET antivirus.

infected with autorun and shortcut virus

ESET antivirus which I used so many times, tried full versions also, but nothing satisfied me in the detection or cleaning of threats. The virus is dangerous it's automatically creates the shortcut and hides the original files and displays the duplicate files in the form exe files. But beware that don't double click on the icons or shortcut. If you format the pendrive or delete them it's automatically copied again to the pen drive.

Better do one thing that download the Avast free edition latest version, update the virus definition and register the antivirus by connecting to Internet. You will get the one year license for free. scan the whole computer I assure that it will clean the virus. If the problem persists download the Norton Internet Security Trial version from Symantec website, It will clean the whole system.

After doing all these things don't insert the USB drive into your PC. Insert by holding Ctrl+Alt+Shft and Insert the USB drive. To avoid autoplay you need to do this. Just format the USB drive, That's it it will be cleaned.

Recover invisible data from pen drive (Not hidden)?

I have some data(pics, videos & docs) in my pen drive that is not hidden. When i see the properties it shows that 4.25 Gb space has been used by the data in it but when i open the pen drive it doesn't show anything in the drive but when i tried checking the same in DOS, it is showing all the files that i know i copied in pendrive few days back. I even tried to copy all the content of pendrive into some other drive on my machine but that doesn't work either. Please help me to recover the data as I'm in a dire need to save all such content.

invisible data in usb drive
Your pendrive might be infected with virus or after scanning there might be threats are still there in pendrive. You might need to know first whether the threats are there in pendrive or not. Scan with a different antivirus. If found it will be cleaned. you might don't know that some viruses changes the attribute to the hidden or invisible or locked. there are so many ways to get the files back.

One way is quick format your pen drive, don't do this steps in your PC, connect your pen drive to other PC. After formatting disconnect it. download the recover my files software's  It is one for the best software's which I used every time for data recovery. When I loss the 500 GB of data which in mistake I deleted partition while installing OS. So I got full version of Recover My Files and installed it, this software recovered all the data. One more thing is that if you lost data or formatted a pendrive long back (about 1 month) ago it is not possible to recover the data. If in case it is not used from the formatted time your data will be recovered.

So many software's are available on the Internet to recover data, which I decided this is the best one. If you are trying from DOS, try to copy the data using DOS commands. Might be your PC is infected the Virus check or scan the whole PC with Norton Internet Security, Symantec provides the Trial version of software's for 30 days. You can try it or if You can afford buy full version.

Why does my Flash drive contents turns into shortcut?

I tried the full system scan after scanning the flash drive yet there is no threat found but every time I insert any flash drive into my laptop its contents turns into a shortcut....I wonder what could be the problem? I format my flash drive as well but it is still the same....

There is a virus either in you system or in flash drive, once check after formatting the flash drive again virus infecting the pen drive. This means after scanning you antivirus programmes is not cleaning or disinfecting the virus.

Which antivirus programme your are using? If you are using an antivirus free edition software's they might not detect the threats because they don't have full features enabled, They got so many limitations. These free edition programmes are provided by the company with limited features, it spreads as viral marketing. About 50% of users buys the full versions.

You need to check with your antivirus programme, because till now I am using the free edition software's  till now the best is AVAST Free Edition 2013. A good antivirus with all features (not the full version features

Once check with your antivirus programme, update the virus definitions scan the whole computer first. After cleaning your system clean the flash drive. If the antivirus which you are using free edition you need to uninstall it and reinstall, update the virus definitions or Install Avast free edition 2013 it's better detects threats clean them maximum possible.

If you can afford buy the full version of software's or try to scan the whole computer with Avast, If the problem persists you need to format the whole system, after installing OS install the Avast, but don't insert the flash drive after formatting. You need to have a USB tools like they remove some autorun virus or when you double click on the flash drive it executes the virus if there is a virus in flash drive.

If you are connected to Internet, Better install a Internet Security software....

I want to do a System Restore?

I think I got a virus from downloading a program off the internet. The virus was created on March 6th. It is March 10th right now. I cannot delete the virus. It will not let me. Plus, there are also registry stuff it did. I have no idea what to do. IF I got the virus from the file I downloaded on March 6th, and if I restore my PC to March 5th (a day before), will that get rid of the virus? What exactly will the system restore. Will it delete some of my downloaded files (which I want it to do). Therefore, will the virus be gone?

By the way, the virus IS a .exe file, and I clicked it. I deleted it, but it already activated. There are Trojans in my registry.

I want to do a windows system restore

If you do a System Restore it can't deletes the virus, but it makes changes to the system according to that Restore point. Virus may not be deleted or cleaned, you need check with the performance of pc after restoring system. System restore just restore the files and folders according to the selected restore point and already your system is infected with virus or Trojans  they can't let the system to restore to a certain point. Mainly go to safe mode once, while booting press f8 choose safe mode  Restore the system from safe mode if it, good, or scan whole computer with the antivirus.

My opinion is don't do a system restore, Just install a trial version of Norton Internet Security and update virus definitions scan the whole system. I assure you that it will clean the entire PC. If you can afford buy a full version of Norton Internet Security.

I already did this type of procedure, like I don't have any antivirus in my PC at that time my PC is infected with virus same like .exe virus. Restored system to a previous state, but that was not successful  and again used system restore from safe mode, same problem, just downloaded the Norton Internet Security Trial version it worked well.

And I bought the Norton Internet Security Full Version, this virus protection software is awesome.

I used Driver Scanner to update 7 of my drivers and computer is running slow. Should I go back to restore?

I had a used the paid version of Driver Scanner 2013. It updated 7 of my drivers. It is made by uniblue.com. I am not sure if this have anything to do with it, but when I changed my windows password the next day, the password did not work. I had to have Staple's reset the windows password. I use Advanced System Care Ultimate 6 and ran all the programs to keep my computer fast and virus free. Please let me know if I should go back to the restore point? Will that mess anything up? Please help.

I checked with a windows tuner and it said my computer is running at 94%.

windows 7 os

My Suggestion is don't use any 3rd party software's to update your system drivers, in my view it download the drivers from other websites or any third party websites, for example say that your mother board is ASUS so in this case it downloads drivers from other third party sites, not from official site (ASUS). If you do the same there might problem with registry entries or signature files, if they mismatch with your system drivers wont work correctly.

Advanced system care ultimate, this is the software a new word to me, I didn't hear about this. As I dont know whether it is good one or bad one, may take some time to review it. Best use the popular internet security softwares or all in one softwares.

If you have mentioned model of your motherboard, I can give you the link. Any way you can down the latest motherboard drivers from the manufacturer's website. dont forget to defragment your hard drive once or twice in a month, If you done with this, you will find the difference in performance of your PC

Any causes that will have a virus in your computer?

There are many causes that you have threats in computer, like inserting external USB drives pen drives, external hard disk, connecting mobile to PC using Bluetooth, connecting to unprotected wireless networks.

Make sure the you have a security software is installed in your PC and maintain a good Firewall also it helps to block the threats. Millions of websites are there in world wide web, some ad ware sites if you click on download button or any ad some sort of plugins, toolbars and software's automatically downloaded form that ad ware website's these leads to changing the browser homepage and malfunction of Internet browser...etc.

virus infection from web

If you copy files or software's mainly exe files from other infected PC, when the same copied to your PC, what happens here just you will open that drive by double click where in case double click in windows performs appropriate action or executes the programmes. As you copied the files from infected system when you double click on the drive it system executes virus and you PC will be infected. If you have any security software or USB security software's it blocks those threats.

Some sort of attachments in emails, mainly in Fake mails or some advertisements mails. They send the virus or infected in zip format we will download them and extract them this is one of the cause for Infection. As the technology improved alot these mails or attachments cannot be viewed, the Email service provider nowadays has maintaing good security with limited features. If you buy the subscription or using premium services you can avail good advantage of these security things

Better install a good Internet Security or All in One Security software's to avoid infections or threats.

Internet is running slowly and keep being redirected?

When online, my laptop seems to be running really slowly and I also keep getting redirected to different websites. My antivirus is up to date and no other program's seem to be running. From searching online I came across something called "Malware" but after a scan using "Malware bytes" nothing was found. Any suggestions.

internet websites redirected to other website

There are many reasons as your page is redirected to different websites. First check for the unnecessary programmes installed in system, Go to Control Panel - Add/Remove Programmes check the list and remove unnecessary programmes.

If you find any programmes, they might installed automatically in your system. One thing some websites automatically installs the toolbars and unnecessary software's ..etc. If you found any websites block them. Better Install Internet Security software's like Norton, This software includes many features like anti spyware  antivirus, firewall...etc. Install the Trial version of Norton Internet Security, You will come to know the performance of this programme.

If your Internet is slow that means, some downloads are going in background like u torrent or any system updates, browser updates ...etc. Check  them in the task manager list.

After uninstalling the programmes from the control panel, restore your browser settings to default, once restart your computer. Update the browser to latest version. Once check your internet speed aswell from speedtest.net, you will come to know that is you ISP providing the Full speed as per you package, If not call them for assistance.

Norton Internet Security features like when you are going to install any programme, it asks you the permission, you can check the programme details over there, How many users are using this, is it a kind of Malware or spyware...etc.

Virus or malware infection?

I've used Spybot, Malwarebytes, and other security softwares, still getting popups It's not even show up when I run these programs. What else can I do? Ocassionally a new tab opens to some advertising site, also in the bottom corner of each browser, a bout of pop-ups appear, like "Speed up repair PC and random ads on the other corner".

system infected with malware virus trojans
You have used all the security softwares as they are malware softwares, My suggestion is just uninstall all the security softwares and once go through repair windows by inserting xp bootable CD or which ever OS you are using. Just disconnect from the internet before reparing OS. After repairing go to control panel uninstall the unknown or unused or unnecessary programmes and restart your computer, reset the browsers settings to default. Once reset completed connect your system to the Internet, just download the Norton Internet security trial version or if you can afford buy one. After installing update virus definitions. Disconnect your computer from internet and scan your whole computer, it compulsory detects threats clean them and restart your computer. That's it your system is clean.

Norton Internet Security provides excellent protection by these type of malwares, trojans, viruses...etc. Some programmes are automatically installed by few websites like adware softwares, malwares or toolbars...etc.

Better aware of all these things before browsing an unknown site or a malware site. Have a good browsers like Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox. Allow them to Auto update browsers beacuse every update has bug fixes, add on features...etc

Is Avast free virus good enough to get rid of any kind of Virus and other for a Laptop?

After running Avast freeware I found no Virus on computer or anything. Seems like once a month though the computer acts up and I have to redo everything. Can a Virus or anything like that be in a computer but not on or in the hard drive? Can a Virus or whatever be in the Bios?

Avast free antivirus, has the limited features, which I have observed alot. In a situation the avast antivirus not detected any virus. After I uninstalled the Avast and Installed the Norton Antivirus Trial. Updated virus definitions, Scanned the whole computer and shocked by seeing the scanned results. It had detected about 150 infected files (tojans/viruses/rootkits).

As there are many infected files, I am thinking that why Avast did not. I checked the features that which provided by the Avast and compared with Norton Antivirus features. It's totally different. We need to check the details and features of the programme before buying or downloading.

Avast can also detect all these infections. but you need to Buy the Full version. Check the picture below.

avast comparison

If you buy the Avast 7 Internet Security, It will detects the virus/trojans/rootkits. If you can afford you can buy

How can i get rid of this Virus?

So I figured there is a virus on my computer from my previous post. >http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20130209165927AAWEfgL How do I get rid of it? Every time I try to go on avast my computer blue screens and it has to restart...

internet browser crashed
The problem which I have faced many times. This happens due to some advertisements or programmes installs automatically, when you click on any Ad. In other way if you are trying to download the songs from a website, some ads seems to same like as you need to click on download button some ads keeps appearing with download button. Mistakenly we will kick on the download button (in which the download button related to Ad) automatically the software is downloaded and installs into system and browser and after sometime it crashes automatically.

There is option to remove these kinds of unnecessary softwares. go to control panel find the unnecessary software or find the software which you didn't installed and select the programmes uninstall them.

Goto your browser settings, Reset all the browser settings, make sure that some browsers don't have this option you many need to follow the help guide. If not done clearly uninstall the browser and install the same.

If you connected to Internet don't install the anti virus, Install the Internet security. That is best option for you. Try Internet security features by installing a Trial software from Norton. Update the virus definitions and scan the whole systems. Beware of Ad wares and Mal wares.

Virus problems scanner cannot pick it up (Advanced)?

So I have a virus in my Program data Files (somewhere) I have ran Avg 2013 and SuperAntiSpyWare but they cannot pick it up. Now I know that I have one because my hard drive had 60 GB left and now it only has 6 GB now I have a feeling if leave it for too long its going to ruin my Hard Drive so what Can I do ? I believe it is very harmful please Help!

threats and infections

You have already scanned with Super Antispyware and AVG 2013, well I too faced the same problem. Installed AVG free edition, it does not detected the virus and I have done one thing, I uninstalled the AVG free edition, Installed Norton Internet security trial version. This one detected the virus and trojans and removed them aswell.

Unistall the AVG 2013 and Install the Norton internet security and run the full system scan. If can afford you can buy one and If your system is infected, virus slows down your computer and it does not allow the programmes to run.

Just format your C drive and Install the OS after Install the Norton Internet Security and run a full system scan. It's better to buy full version, enjoy the full features of the product.

Problem connecting to internet after deleting a program?

Ok, so I didn't have enough memory on my computer so I had to delete some things. I though I had some kind of virus I downloaded so I started deleting programs. (stupid I know) I ended up deleting a program that kind of looked like a crab? It said something about disk or whatever. I don't remember anything more than that, but after my laptop kept saying something wasn't plugged in and the internet wasn't working because of it, but on this computer the internet works just fine and the box says it is working. Did I delete a program needed to access the internet? How can I get it back? I already tired to do a recovery but no dates were saved so it wouldn't let me. Please anything at all would make me feel much better. And the sooner the better cause I'm really freaking out.

delete browsers

So you have deleted the program, means that you have deleted .exe files. This means that exe plays a major role in here. Better get to know which program you have deleted and you mentioned that you have enough memory on you computer may be you do not have enough memory in RAM or harddisk.

Dont you have any antivirus? Better install a good internet security softwares like Norton or Mcafee. One option is there to get your files back which you have deleted. Go to safemode, while booting press F8 and selected safe mode. You will be asked do a system restore press "No" and selected system check point or if a program installed or uninstalled you they create a system restore point.

Better choose system restore point and press next, your system restores to that point how it will be at that point of time.

Hope you problem will be solved.

Got a virus on my computer how do i get rid of it, HELP!?

I have downloaded an infected program or virus that my antivirus software (AVG) can't detect it and the virus wont allow me to do a computer system restore. I know that I have the virus because videos on YouTube started to be choppy or just stop and ads are pooping up in places they never use to. All the ads are those scams for lower insurance premiums etc.... How do I solve this?

infected program

Already you have installed the AVG antivirus as the virus was not detected by the antivirus, may be that is not a virus might be Malware or Trojan. AVG free edition is limited it doesnot have all the features, if you afford to buy, get a full version of anitivrus or if you are connected to internet buy internet security my suggestion is to get Norton Internet Security.

I already installed and faced this kind of problem with many free antivirus and used to install the trojan remover and malware remover...etc including this antivirus. What happened is system getting slow down because 4 to 5 security softwares are installed in my system. If you got internet security software it optimzes your system to function properly.

If you want to do system restore, go to safe mode and while booting press F8 choose safe mode from the list. Follow the onscreen instructions to do system restore. Ads are pooping out because some click through software might be installed in your system go to control panel find in the list and uninstall them.

How to permanently remove BasicScan?

I have tried all the instructions I saw on the internet, I already uninstalled it from the control panel, rebooted the system and restored my browser's homepage but it keeps coming back, when I open my browser the search engine(default page) keeps returning to basic scan even though it's already uninstalled, can you guys help me out?

remove malware
As you already uninstalled the malware from your PC, it might be some more traces are there of that particular malware and check thoroughly uninstall them. These malware's are automatically installed by some porn site's or malware site's, for avoiding these automated installation you need to have good internet security softwares.

Once check with browser extensions or addons in Mozilla/Google chrome/internet explorer which you are using, go to extensions check for the malware name if you don't know, check for info of that particular add on on that net you will come to whether it is useful to you or not.

Update your software's with latest service pack and have good security software's or internet security which is more better if you have internet connection at home.

I want to know that if there is a virus in a computer then how to find it and delete it ?

Virus is not detected by antivirus or antispyware, my computer sceen is blinking sometimes 3times/30second and sometime no blinks. I formatted C drive but problems comes after 10 or 12 days again, I know that if I format the whole hard disk then this may be solved but I want any other solution. My pc has intel g33/g31 graphic chipset family and dual core processor 2.8 ghz .

You many know or not know that your PC is infected with Virus or Trojans. It depends upon the usuage of your computer. If you are using the PC daily and working on same application you can easily come to know whether infected with virus or trojans.
how to know pc is infected with virus
As you already formatted C drive, so after 10 or 12 days again the same thing happens which means virus or it's traces are still in other drivers you need to clean those infected drives. You are using antivirus in this case if you are using trial software or free licensed version it works for with limited features only. If you still scan with that it detects threats on the basis of virus definitions. Make sure to check the reviews of the antivirus before downloading.

Install a Internet security instead of antivirus if you are connected to internet becuase internet security software is loaded with great features that detects the traces of virus or trojans, It prevents automatically downloading of other malicious softwares, toolbars...etc

And I don't know, should I do system restore? Will it harm my computer and I lose everything??

internet browsers malware
Searchab.com may be a malware, in which it automatically changes the default webpage into searchhab.com and it may download the some appropriate softwares automatically. you need to unistall the searchab.com  related softwares and restore the browser settings and after uninstall restart your system.

I suggest you need to buy a good antivirus like Norton Internet Security and if you can't afford it download free antivirus like avast free edition which they provide one year license with free updates.
